All that glitters is not gold. Gold is the new cocaine - and it's just as lucrative, dangerous, and destructive.
Dirty Gold is a searing expose on the booming gold mining industry and destruction on the land and people of Latin America. It looks closely at a small US firm in Miami that helped transform the city into the nation's No.1 importer of gold into the United States. The book follows the meteoric rise and fall of a group of drug traders known as 'the three amigos' who laundered narco money through gold illegally brought into the US and raked in millions before they were caught.
Whilst they were making their millions, the humanitarian situation in Colombia, Peru, and many other countries deteriorated dramatically.
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the NSRI, here is a collection of daring rescues filled with drama and danger. From burning ships to shark attacks, sinking trawlers to hallucinating fishermen, these are the stories of man’s constant battle with some of the most dangerous waters on earth. But there is one story in particular that gave rise to the creation of the NSRI...
On 12 April 1966, four fishing boats put out to sea from Stilbaai on South Africa’s southern coast. Soon they were all pulling in fish as fast as they could bait their hooks, and the boats were settling lower in the water. Shortly before sunset, skipper Gerhard Dreyer saw clouds building on the horizon. But the fishing was too good and they ignored the signs. Later that night a gale force wind slammed into them. ‘I told the men to throw everything overboard,’ Gerhard remembers. An hour before midnight, Gerhard headed for deeper water to try and ride out the swells. As dawn broke, they saw for the first time the true extent of the night’s damage: among the flotsam, one man in a lifebuoy. That man was the only crewman from the other three boats to survive the terrible storm. Seventeen men died that night.
Simonstown schoolteacher Patti Price was horrified when she read the news. She began a media campaign and appealed to the president of the Society of Master Mariners. As a direct result of her efforts, the South African Inshore Rescue Service was founded in August 1966 (renamed the National Sea Rescue Institute in 1967). Today, the NSRI has 35 rescue bases and over 1 000 volunteers.
A beautifully illustrated story celebrating sibling relationships,
encouraging patience and understanding as a little elephant learns
what it truly means to be a big brother. The perfect gift for
families to share. When little Henry meets his new baby sister

about being an elephant. But Celeste doesn't seem to be interested
in Henry's lessons - she wants to explore and play! As Celeste's
curiosity leads them both away from the herd, the two little
elephants find themselves lost and afraid. Can Celeste use what
she's learned from her big brother to help get them to safety? With
stunning charcoal illustrations and a hint of yellow, Jo Weaver
brings this heart-warming tale of love and friendship beautifully
to life. From the award-winning creator of Little One, Little
Whale, Little Tigers and Bibi.

Action comedy directed by and starring Seth Rogen. When talk show
host Dave Skylark (James Franco) and his producer Aaron Rapaport
(Rogen) celebrate their 1000th episode of 'Skylark Tonight' Aaron
voices his concerns over the seemingly trivial content of their
programme. When they are informed that the President of North Korea
Kim Jong-un (Randall Park) is a fan of the show they prepare
themselves for the interview of their lives. Before they can board
the plane however, CIA Agent Lacey (Lizzy Caplan) knocks on their
door requesting their assistance in a current operation that aims
to assassinate Kim Jong-un. When they get to North Korea will Dave
and Aaron be able to simply ask their questions or will the thrill
of being set an assignment by the CIA be too much to resist?

'Many of the world's great leaders request to come to Mar-a-Lago in
Palm Beach. They like it. I like it. We're comfortable.' - Donald
Trump A bit too comfortable, perhaps. Donald Trump's opulent Palm
Beach club Mar-a-Lago has thrummed with scandal since the earliest
days of his presidency. Long known for its famous and wealthy
clientele, the resort's guest list soon started filling with
political operatives and power-seekers. Meanwhile, as Trump
re-branded Mar-a-Lago "the Winter White House" and began spending
weekends there, state business spilled out into full view of the
club's members, and vast sums of taxpayer money and political
donations began flowing into its coffers, and into the pockets of
the president. The Grifters' Club is a breakthrough account of the
corruption, intrigue, and absurdity that has been on display in the
place where the president is at his most relaxed. In these pages, a
team of prizewinning Miami Herald journalists reveal the activities
and motivations of the strange array of charlatans and tycoons who
populate its halls. Some peddle influence, some look to steal
government secrets, and some just want to soak up the feeling of
unfettered access to the world's most powerful leaders. With the
drama of an expose and the edgy humor of a Carl Hiaasen novel, The
Grifters' Club takes you behind the velvet ropes of this exclusive
club and into its bizarre world of extravagance and scandal. _____
An astonishing look inside the gilded gates of Mar-a-Lago, the
palatial resort where President Trump conducts government business
with little regard for ethics, security, or even the law. This
ground-breaking and shocking expose reads like a thriller. Perfect
for fans of Fire and Fury, Team of Vipers and Fear.
